When I started advertising for businesses in the 90s we ran newspaper ads and phone book ads. It was very hard to track analytics and actually know if any of the ads worked. The ads rarely worked and where very expensive. In todays day in digital marketing we can split test, check analytics, see who saw an ad, how long they looked at the ad and we can even capture an email address and/or retarget a person that saw our ad. We can do all of this and it costs less than old school traditional print marketing.
